Data categories we collect and use

Depending on what you do in the product, AssessLess may collect and use account and authentication data; property lookup and parcel facts; an official assessment notice or tax-bill PDF and its parsed fields when document upload is available; generated packet and report materials; payment and access records; and support, privacy-request, security, and audit logs.

The free property check explains whether the available county comparisons support asking for a lower assessment. The Property Comparison Review — $5 and the $50 appeal preparation packet use property and payment records to keep purchases private, confirm payment, and make downloads available only to the account that made the purchase. Secure checkout is available only after sign-in and when AssessLess can provide the selected purchase.

Processors and service providers

AssessLess uses Supabase for database, private storage, and supported sign-in methods: email magic links/one-time codes and SMS text codes. Google sign-in is not supported. Vercel provides hosting and application runtime; Stripe provides payment processing when checkout is active; and Google Gmail sends packet-ready messages when paid delivery is active. We share only the information each provider needs to perform its service.

We do not sell homeowner information. We also do not use county/vendor data in a way that bypasses source permissions. We do not scrape public parcel or tax pages.

Retention schedule

AssessLess keeps personal information for up to three years after the last activity in the relevant account or workspace. At the end of that period, we review the records for deletion or anonymization. We do not automatically erase records without an owner-scoped review, so a limited exception may be kept longer when needed for payment, refund, dispute, security, legal, tax/accounting, support, or audit reasons.

• Account and workspace records: kept for up to three years after last activity, then eligible for deletion or anonymization after owner export and review unless an exception applies.
• Official assessment and tax-document PDFs, parsed fields, and generated packets: kept for up to three years after last workspace activity, then eligible for deletion or anonymization after export and review.
• Private document storage objects: deleted through an explicit, owner-scoped, audited review after metadata export; the same three-year clock applies.
• Property lookup support records: the current production `property_lookup_events` schema records only the existing minimized event columns; it does not yet contain support-address columns, so it does not retain raw street address, city, county, or classified support outcome. The prepared forward migration adds a server-written support record limited to street address, city, county, classified outcome, and timestamp. That support record is retained for up to three years after the event, then reviewed for deletion or anonymization; general/minimized telemetry does not retain those address fields.
• Payment, tax/accounting, dispute, and abuse-prevention records: kept for up to three years after the relevant transaction or resolution, and longer only when a documented exception requires it.
• Support, security, privacy-request, and operator audit logs: minimized where practical and kept for up to three years after the relevant matter is closed, unless an exception requires longer retention.

Local browser data is separate from hosted records; signing out clears known saved property/intake data from the device where that cleanup control is available.

Rights and request workflow

To request export, deletion, correction, or account-data review, email privacy@assessless.app from the homeowner email used for AssessLess. Include the property address or workspace label only if needed to identify the request, and do not email extra sensitive documents.

You can also start from the public account request page or, after sign-in, the signed-in account page. AssessLess verifies your request before export or deletion review and records the outcome.

AssessLess is an Illinois-focused homeowner workflow for Kendall County, Illinois property-tax appeal preparation. Depending on where you live, you may also request export, deletion, correction, access, or objection/limitation review. AssessLess handles those requests through the same owner-verified review path and may retain exception records when required for security, support, payment, dispute, tax/accounting, or audit reasons.

Operational identifiers and contacts

AssessLess operations is the current product operator/controller contact for this self-serve workflow. For privacy requests, email privacy@assessless.app. For access, delivery, or support issues, email support@assessless.app. No public postal mailing address is approved for publication yet, so use the email request path until a public mailing address is approved and posted.

AssessLess is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not use the product or upload homeowner documents. If a parent or guardian believes a child provided information, email privacy@assessless.app so the owner-scoped record can be reviewed.

If you believe there has been a security incident involving your AssessLess account or uploaded records, email support@assessless.app and include only the minimum details needed to identify the account or workspace. Do not send assessment notices, tax bills, IDs, photos, or other sensitive records by email. We aim to acknowledge security reports within seven days. AssessLess records security reports, preserves necessary audit evidence, and reviews containment and notification obligations.

Product boundaries

AssessLess provides no legal or tax advice, no valuation advice, no representation, no filing service, and no guaranteed assessment reduction. You remain responsible for official forms, deadlines, facts, filing channels, and submission decisions.
